Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Number of children = c

Number of adults = a

Total number of adults & children = 32

c + a = 32  --------------------(I)

Total amount = $ 487

Cost of child plate = $8

Cost of c child plates = 8c

Cost of an adult plate = $19

Cost of a adult plate = 19a

8c + 19a = 487 ---------------(II)

Multiply equation (I) by (-8)

(I)* (-8)               -8c - 8a = -256

(II)                       <u>8c  + 19a = 487</u>  {Now add & c will be eliminated}

                                  11a = 231

a = 231/11

a = 21

Plugin the value of a in equation (I)

21 + c = 32

       c = 32 - 21

       c = 11

Number of adult plates = $ 21

Number of child plates = $ 11

Answer:

Adult plate = 21 , child plate = 11

Step-by-step explanation:

number of adult plate = a , no of child plate = c

$487 = $19a + $8c (equation 1)

32 = a + c (equation 2)

Multiply equation 2 by 8 gets you:

256 = 8a + 8c (equation 3)

Solve equation 1 and equation 3 simultaneously:

487 = 19a + 8c (equation 1) minus

256 = 8a + 8c (equation 3) :

231 = 11a

a = 231/11

a= 21

Substitute a = 21 into equation 2 :

32 = 21 + c

c = 32 - 21

c = 11

So 21 adult plates and 11 child plates were sold.

An angelfish was 1 1/2 inches long when it was bought. Now it is 2 1/3 inches long.
____ [38]

A)

Earlier, The length of the angelfish  = 1 \frac{1}{2} inches

Now, the length of angelfish = 2 \frac{1}{3} inches

We have to determine the grown length of angelfish

=  2 \frac{1}{3} -  1 \frac{1}{2}

= \frac{7}{3}- \frac{3}{2}

LCM of '2' and '3' is '6',

= \frac{14-9}{6}

= \frac{5}{6} inch

Therefore, the angelfish has grown by \frac{5}{6} inch.

B)

We have to determine the increased length of angelfish in feet.

Since 1 inch = \frac{1}{12} foot

So, \frac{5}{6} inch = \frac{5}{6} \times \frac{1}{12} = \frac{5}{72}

= 0.069 foot.

Write an equivalent expression by distributing the "-−" sign outside the parentheses: -(7n+0.9)

Line CD passes through points C(1, 3) and D(4, –3). If the equation of the line is written in slope-intercept form, y = mx + b,
Nana76 [90]

Answer:

5

Step-by-step explanation:

First we need to find the slope

m = (y2-y1)/ (x2-x1)

   = (-3-3)/(4-1)

  =-6/3

  = -2

Then we can use point slope form to make the equation

y-y1 = m(x-x1)

y-3 = -2(x-1)

Distribute

y-3 = -2x+2

Add 3 to each side

y-3+3 = -2x+2+3

y = -2x+5

Since this is in slope intercept form, y = mx +b, the y intercept is 5
