Alexander wanted to integrate and keep the Greek hegemony over his empire. To do so, he intended to merge the Greek monarchy with the descendants of the Achaemenid empire, which he had conquered.

During the Hellenistic Period (323 BC-31 BC) which started with the Alexander´s death in 323 BC, Greece experienced its period of biggest expansion and prospperity. The Alexander´s vision of hegemony and expansion was according to the Hellenistic values.
