Find the 58"" term of the following arithmetic sequence, 18, 23, 28, 33,

Mathematics
1 answer:
Anna11 [10]3 years ago

Answer:

303

Step-by-step explanation:

So the equation to find a term is An=a1+(n-1)d

An represents the value of the number (n)

and n is the selective that you want

d is the difference between the first and second term which is 23-18=5, and you can see that adding 5 to the previous term gives the following term.

a1 is the first term in the sequence

so knowing all that now you can go back and inset all variables into the equation

An=18+(58-1)5

An=303

Hope that helps :)

Suppose that scores on an aptitude test are normally distributed with a mean of 100 and a standard deviation of 4.6. Scores on a
DerKrebs [107]

Answer:

The correct answer is C. Felix's z-score on the aptitude test was 1.30. His z-score on the knowledge test was 2.08. Felix performed better on the knowledge test, comparatively.

Step-by-step explanation:

1. Let's check all the information given to us to answer the question correctly:

Mean of the scores on the aptitude test = 100

Standard deviation of the aptitude test = 4.6

Felix's score on the aptitude test = 106

Mean of the scores on the knowledge test = 70

Standard deviation of the knowledge test = 2.4

Felix's score on the knowledge test = 75

2. Which statement best describes Felix's scores on the two tests comparatively?

Let's recall that z-score in a normal distribution, positive or negative, is the number of times of the standard deviation a certain element is from the mean. If the element is below the mean, then the z-score is negative and if it's above the mean, then the z-score is positive.

Therefore, a score of 106 on the aptitude test, will have the following z-score:

106 - 100 = 6 and it's above the mean.

Now, we calculate the z-score, using the value of the standard deviation this way:

6/4.6 = 1.30

A score of 75 on the knowledge test, will have the following z-score:

75 - 70 = 5 and it's above the mean.

Now, we calculate the z-score, using the value of the standard deviation this way:

5/2.4 = 2.08

The z-scores of Felix were 1.30 on the aptitude test and 2.08 on the knowledge test. He performed better on the aptitude test because 2.08 > 1.30, so the correct statement that best describes Felix's scores on the two tests comparatively is C. Felix's z-score on the aptitude test was 1.30. His z-score on the knowledge test was 2.08. Felix performed better on the knowledge test, comparatively.

Find center, foci, and vertices of ellipse (x+3)^2/21+(y-5)^2/25=1
sasho [114]
I don't know if we can find the foci of this ellipse, but we can find the centre and the vertices. First of all, let us state the standard equation of an ellipse.

(If there is a way to solve for the foci of this ellipse, please let me know! I am learning this stuff currently.)

\frac{(x-x_{1})^2}{a^2}+ \frac{(y-y_{1})^2}{b^2}=1

Where (x_{1},y_{1}) is the centre of the ellipse. Just by looking at your equation right away, we can tell that the centre of the ellipse is:

(-3,5)

Now to find the vertices, we must first remember that the vertices of an ellipse are on the major axis.

The major axis in this case is that of the y-axis. In other words,

b^2>a^2

So we know that b=5 from your equation given. The vertices are 5 away from the centre, so we find that the vertices of your ellipse are:

(-3,10)
& (-3,0)

I really hope this helped you! (Partially because I spent a lot of time on this lol)

Sincerely,
