Answer:

x = 115

Step-by-step explanation:

Your working's actually right haha you just need to further evaluate that. The two angles do add up to 180°.

x + x - 50 = 180

2x - 50 = 180

Now, we can shift the (-50) to the right-hand side of the equation so that we can find out how much 2x is worth. (-50) would turn to +50 when it shifts.

2x = 180 + 50

    = 230

We can find x now.

x = 230 ÷ 2

x = 115

X = 115
x+x-50=180
2x-50=180
+50 +50
2x=230
\2 \2
x=115

A 30ft electric line is suspended between the tops of two 20ft electric poles on level ground. The lowest point of the line is 5
Lilit [14]

Answer:

There is no distance between them

Step-by-step explanation:

For a 30 ft electric line to be placed between two 20ft electric poles, it would take 15 ft of the electric line to go down to about 5 ft above the ground and another 15 ft of the line to go to the top of the second electric pole. This means that a total of 30ft (15 ft + 15 ft) electric line would be needed which is all the cable we have.

For this to be possible then the poles must be adjacent to each other (i.e. no distance between them).
