Answer:

Most of the fiction (at least four novels and more than a dozen short stories), drama (about a half-dozen plays), and poetry (more than eighty poems) that Toomer wrote during his lifetime remains in manuscript form, so his public reputation rests almost entirely on one work, Cane. Published in 1923, the slim volume includes work in all three genres and is widely recognized as a major product of the Harlem Renaissance, a 1920’s flowering of African American art and literature that created intense interest among black and white intellectuals.

Answer:

There are many books in which I could pull from, but the best example would be The Hobbit by J.R.R Tolkien. Tolkien throws the reader into a mystical world set in Middle Earth. We are introduced with a Hobbit, who enjoys a quaint simple life.About half average human height, Tolkien presented hobbits as a variety of humanity, or close relatives thereof.

The Hobbit is selected by the wizard Gandalf to help Thorin and his party of Dwarves to reclaim their ancestral home and treasure, which has been taken over by the dragon Smaug. Bilbo sets out in The Hobbit timid and comfort-loving, and through his adventures grows to become a useful asset. Like many Hobbits, Bilbo Baggins does not like adventures, as it is not in their "nature." But Gandalf comes by to prove otherwise.

During the novel, Bilbo is recruited by Gandalf to help a pack of Dwarves reclaim their lost home. When Bilbo accepted this journey, we are already seeing Bilbo's true colors coming through. This also allows you to use the lens quotation because it is revealing who the character truly is even when people are not watching. Bilbo scurries along to meet the rest of his party as the entirety of Bag End shuns him. A great example of Bilbo's character in the dark is when he is literally in the dark. His quick thoughts are what saves him from being Gollum's next meal when he falls into his cave.

Bilbo saved his own life that day because of his witty puzzles and quick actions against Gollum. Bilbo fought as hard as he possibly could to achieve his goal, and he never gave up. At heart, Bilbo is an adventurer, just like the rest of the Took side of his family. With the help of a couple of new friends, Bilbo was able to show his "true character in the dark" to the world. In addition to this Bilbo got to discover who he really is and learn how to overcome new challeneges.

As a result from all the challenges Bilbo encountered he showed his true color. To put it into other words, the readers discovered who he was even when he did not believe it himself. This Novel put excellent use to the lens quotation because it allows you to open your mind to how it suits other texts and situations.

Explanation: I know this is late im really sorry, still hope it works :) This is made for a five paragraph format but you might want to make some alterations. The essay is based off the novel 'The Hobbit'

Hope it helps regardless <3

CREATIVE WRITING ASSIGNMENT - Simon escapes to the forest at the end of chapter 3. Reread the last few paragraphs of chapter 3 a
svlad2 [7]
Carrying a stick sharpened into a makeshift spear, Jack trails a pig through the thick jungle, but it evades him. Irritated, he walks back to the beach, where he finds Ralph and Simon at work building huts for the younger boys to live in. Ralph is irritated because the huts keep falling down before they are completed and because, though the huts are vital to the boys’ ability to live on the island, none of the other boys besides Simon will help him. As Ralph and Simon work, most of the other boys splash about and play in the lagoon. Ralph gripes that few of the boys are doing any work. He says that all the boys act excited and energized by the plans they make at meetings, but none of them is willing to work to make the plans successful. Ralph points out that Jack’s hunters have failed to catch a single pig. Jack claims that although they have so far failed to bring down a pig, they will soon have more success. Ralph also worries about the smaller children, many of whom have nightmares and are unable to sleep. He tells Jack about his concerns, but Jack, still trying to think of ways to kill a pig, is not interested in Ralph’s problems.

Ralph, annoyed that Jack, like all the other boys, is unwilling to work on the huts, implies that Jack and the hunters are using their hunting duties as an excuse to avoid the real work. Jack responds to Ralph’s complaints by commenting that the boys want meat. Jack and Ralph continue to bicker and grow increasingly hostile toward each other. Hoping to regain their sense of camaraderie, they go swimming together in the lagoon, but their feelings of mutual dislike remain and fester.

In the meantime, Simon wanders through the jungle alone. He helps some of the younger boys—whom the older boys have started to call “littluns”—reach fruit hanging from a high branch. He walks deeper into the forest and eventually finds a thick jungle glade, a peaceful, beautiful open space full of flowers, birds, and butterflies. Simon looks around to make sure that he is alone, then sits down to take in the scene, marveling at the abundance and beauty of life that surrounds him.

Which BEST analyzes how Shaw draws upon the work of the Roman poet, Ovid? Consider only the excerpts. A) Like Ovid's main charac
Luba_88 [7]

Answer:

Hi! I am afraid that your question is incomplete because you forgot to mention which book are you talking about. But, I did a little research on the Internet and I think I am able to answer it correctly.

From the options given, the one that best analyzes how Shaw draws upon the work of the Roman poet, Ovid, is A: Like Ovid's main character, Shaw's main character portrays a level of disdain for women.

Explanation:

First, let's say that we are talking about Pygmalion, by George Bernard Shaw, a play published in 1913. Pygmalion derives its name from the famous story in Ovid's Metamorphoses, in which Pygmalion feels disgusted by the loose and shameful lives of the women of his era. Due to this feeling, he decides to live alone and unmarried.

In this case, like Pygmalion (the main character from Metamorphoses), the main character feels disgusted by them -women-, that is why the correct answer is A.

Answer:

C) build playgrounds,not shopping malls.

Explanation:

A persuasive essay is an essay which is used to convince a reader about a particular idea or plan that he believes in. A persuasive essay can be based on anything about which a person may have an opinion or that one can make a clear argument about. Since the C option tells us about an opinion and persuading us to build playgrounds rather than shopping malls that is why this can be put under the category of persuasive essays.
