An apple farmer is deciding how to use each day’s harvest. She can use the harvest to produce apple cider or apple juice for the

apple festival in two weeks. The information she uses to make the decision is listed below.
1 bushel of apples will make 20 quarts of apple cider.
1 bushel of apples will make 15 quarts of apple juice.
The apple farmer collect 18 bushels of apples.
Today the apple farmer needs to produce a total of 330 quarts.

A. The information given can be modeled with a system of equations. Define your x and y variables represent in this situation.

B. The information given can be modeled with a system of equations. Write two different equations that can be used to model the situation. Explain what each equation represents.

C. Use the equations in Part B to determine the number of bushels that were used to make apple cider and were used to make apple juice. Show or explain your work.

Answer:

A)

There are 18 bushels of apples.

1 bushel of apples will make 20 quarts of apple cider.

1 bushel of apples will make 15 quarts of apple juice.

x = number of bushels to make cider out of.

y = number of bushels to make juice out of.

B)

As there are 18 bushels

x + y = 18

The apple farmer needs to produce a total of 330 quarts.

1 bushel of apples will make 20 quarts of apple cider.

1 bushel of apples will make 15 quarts of apple juice.

20x + 15y = 330

C)

x + y = 18. Thus we can express y in terms of x:

y = 18 - x

We can substitute the y in 20x + 15y = 330 and solve for x:

20x + 15 (18 - x) = 330

20x + 270 - 15x = 330

5x = 60

x = 12

And as y = 18 - x

y = 18 - 12

y = 6

[ C_1 ]: We could have done the same with x, expressing x in terms of y:

x = 18 - y, substitute the x in 20x + 15y = 330 and solve for y:

20 (18 - y) + 15y = 330

360 - 20y + 15y = 330

-5y = -30

y = 6

And as x = 18 - y

x = 18 - 6

x = 12

D)

As we had defined in A)

x = number of bushels to make cider out of

y = number of bushels to make juice out of,

there will 12 bushels of apples be processed into cider and

there will 6 bushels of apples be processed into juice

in order to produce

20 quarts of cider per bushel * 12 bushels = 240 quarts of cider, and

15 quarts of juice per bushel * 6 bushels = 90 quarts of juice,

which sum up to a total of

240 + 90 = 330 quarts of apple beverages, as required.

Each student ticket for an art museum costs $12.50. the total cost for student tickets, t, varies directly as the number of tick
Troyanec [42]

An equation that models the proportional relationship between t and s.

t = 12.5s

<h3>What is proportional relationship?</h3>

Relationships between two variables where their ratios are equal are known as proportional relationships. The fact that one variable is always a constant value multiplied by the other in a proportionate connection is another way to conceive of them. This parameter is referred to as the "constant of proportionality."

<h3>According to the given information :</h3>

1) Ticket for an art museum costs $12.50

2) In other words, the price will increase by $12.50 for each ticket purchased (or tickets).

In other words, the total expense is always 12.5 times the quantity of tickets sold.

3) This indicates that we can create this ---> t = 12.5s.

An equation that models the proportional relationship between t and s.

t = 12.5s

Find the perimeter of the triangle with vertices A(negative 2,2,3), B(4,negative 4,3), and C(7,6,4).
gayaneshka [121]

Answer:

P\approx 28.872\,\text{units}

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given coordinates of each of the vertices of the triangle ABC, hence we can use the distance formula to find the lengths of each of the side.

the distance formula is generally written as:

r = \sqrt{(x_1-x_2)^2+(y_1-y_2)^2+(z_1-z_2)^2}

for the side AB: A(-2,2,3) and B(4,-4,3)

AB = \sqrt{(-2-4)^2+(2-(-4))^2+(3-3)^2}

AB = \sqrt{(-6)^2+(6)^2+(3-3)^2}

AB = \sqrt{72}

for the side BC: B(4,-4,3) and C(7,6,4)

BC = \sqrt{(4-7)^2+((-4)-6)^2+(3-4)^2}

BC = \sqrt{110}

for the side CA: C(7,6,4) and A(-2,2,3)

CA = \sqrt{(7-(-2))^2+(6-2)^2+(4-3)^2}

CA = \sqrt{98}

Now we all the sidelengths:

to find the perimeter we need to just sum the three side lengths:

P = AB + BC + CA

P = \sqrt{72} + \sqrt{110} + \sqrt{98}

P\approx 28.872\,\text{units}

this is the perimeter of triangle ABC

A total of 646 tickets were sold. They were either adult ticket or student tickets. There were 54 fewer student tickets sold tha
Firdavs [7]

Answer:

350

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the number of adult tickets be x, then the number of student tickets sold would be (x–54).

We now have

x+(x–54)=646

2x=700

x=350

Therefore, 350 adult tickets were sold.
