What does Hamlet mean when he refers to the "pangs of dispriz’d love"?
Sav [38]
"Pangs of dispriz'd love" is an expression used to portray heartache. More precisely, in the play Hamlet falls in love with Ophelia who is told by her father to reject any advances by Hamlet. This hurts and confuses Hamlet and causes him much distress in the play. However when news of his father's death comes about, and he can no longer spend energy sulking over his unrequited love, Ophelia feels betrayed which ultimately leads to her death.

What does the narrator say about Gatsby in the first few pages?
Monica [59]

Answer:

Nick's bias becomes clear in the earliest pages of the book, when he tells us that “there was something gorgeous about him [Gatsby], some heightened sensitivity to the promises of life.” We are inclined to see Gatsby as a sensitive genius and to side with him in the romantic triangle between Gatsby, Daisy, and Tom.
