The correct answer is (1,2)

Steps:
Multiply the second equation by 6 in order to eliminate the x variable.

6x-7y= -8
6(-x-4y= -9)

6x-7y= -8
-6x-24y=-54

Add the equations together and solve for y

-31y= -62
Y=2

Substitute y=2 in the original equation

-x-4(2)= -9
-x-8= -9
-x= -1
X=1

Answer: (1,2)

Doing a test and I need to know these.
Luda [366]
To do 4x> 12, you divide 4x by 4 to isolate variable then divide 12 by 4, because if you do something on one side you have to do on the other so... x= 3 ..hope that helped . Also 75% of 96 Its 72.. its just 75/100 = x/96 then use cross products to find out that

A customer needs 60 pencils if he buys them on sale how many of the 60 pencils can he get for free?
Ahat [919]
If the customer buys 4 pencils he will get the 5th one free.

This means, in every 5 pencils, he is getting one free pencil. 60 pencils can be seen as 12 groups of 5 pencils each. In each group he is getting 1 free pencil, so in 12 groups, the customer will get 12 free pencils.

So, we can conclude that, if the customer buys 60 pencils on sale, he will get 12 of them as free.
