Three times the square root of a number is the same as 4 less than the number. find the number
Tresset [83]
The problem is asking you to find x in this equation: 3×√x = x-4   I guessed and checked for this problem with numbers that were perfect squares like 4,9,16 etc. The number you are looking for is x=16 The square root of 16 is 4. 4x3=12 and 16-4 is 12.
Hope I helped!

Given a set of data sorted from smallest to largest, define the first, second, and third quartiles.
Nikolay [14]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Given a set of data sorted from smallest to largest, i.e. arranged in ascending order we are to find out the median, I and III quartiles

We know that the median is the middle entry of data arranged in ascending order

Q1 is the entry below which 25% lie and Q3 is one above which 25% lie

Hence proper definition would be

d. The first quartile is the median of the lower half of the data below the overall median.

The second quartile is the overall median

The third quartile is the median of the upper half of the data above the overall median.

Option b is wrong becuase mean is not necessary here.  Option a is wrong because this has nothing to do with std deviation

Option c is wrong since minimum value cannot be q1

Option e is wrong because we have exactly 25% lie below Q1

What is the next term in the sequence below?
andreyandreev [35.5K]

Answer: Option a.

Step-by-step explanation:

1. The sequence shown in the problem is a Geometric sequence, because it has a common ratio. This means that when you multiply one of those numbers by the common ratio, you obtain the next number.

2. Then, you can calculate the common ratio as following:

r=\frac{108}{-324}=-\frac{1}{3}

3. Therefor, the next term is:

(12)(-\frac{1}{3})=-4
