May have rained 2.5 more inches then in April. First you would need to subtract 9.4 because that’s how much it rained in May and then subtract it with 6.9 because that’s how much it rained in April. Then you get the answer of 2.5. You didn’t have to subtract the March  because they didn’t ask you for the inches for the March.
