Hello there!

324 + 36^2 = x^2

324 + 1296 = x^2

1620 = x^2

-x^2 + 1620 = 0

-x^2 = 0 - 1620

-x^2 = -1620

We don't want to leave the variable with a negative sign, so we should divide both sides by -1 to remove the negative sign

-x^2/-1 = -1620/-1

x^2 = 1620

Then take square root

x = +- √1620

x =18√5 or x = -18√5

I hope this helps!

What is the solution
bonufazy [111]
You would have to square root both sides in order to get a solution, and you can't have a negative under the radical unless you plan to do imaginary numbers, and I don't see imaginary numbers as part of your answers, so the answer in this case would be F, no solution

3x-2x+8=12; x=4
Determine if the value of x is a solution to the equation

VARVARA [1.3K]

Step-by-step explanation:

3x - 2x + 8 = 12; x=4

Now, Evaluate the value of x

3(4) - 2(4) + 8 = 12

12 - 8 + 8 = 12

12 + 0 = 12

12 = 12

50% of students change their major area of study after their first year in a program. A random sample of 100 students in the Col
devlian [24]

Answer:

Hence, since z ( - 0.4 ) is greater than ( -1.65 );

we reject H₀, Null hypothesis,

Therefore, There is no evidence that there has been a significance decrease in the proportion of students who change their major after the first year in the program.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given the data in the question;

Let p = 50% = 0.5

Hypothesis;

Null hypothesis            H₀ : p ≥ 0.5

Alternative hypothesis H₁ : p < 0.5

x = 48

sample size n = 100

sample proportion p" = x / n = 48 / 100 = 0.48

significance value = 0.5

Z_\alpha = -1.65

Test Statistics;

z = (p" - p) / √( p( 1 - p ) / n )

we substitute

z = (0.48 - 0.5) / √( 0.5( 1 - 0.5 ) / 100)

z = -0.02 / √( 0.25 / 100 )

z = -0.02 / √0.0025

z = -0.02 / 0.05

z = -0.4

Hence, since z ( - 0.4 ) is greater than ( -1.65 );

we reject H₀, Null hypothesis,

Therefore, There is no evidence that there has been a significance decrease in the proportion of students who change their major after the first year in the program

Dale made $252 for 18 hours of work. at the same rate, how much would he make for 11 hours of work
zvonat [6]

Answer:

$154

Step-by-step explanation:

First, we need to find out how much Dale will make for 1 hour of work which means we need to divide $252 by 18 which is 14. Next, to find out how much he will make for 11 hours at work, we need to multiply 11 by 14 which is $154.

Here are the equations:

$252÷18=$14

$14×11=$154
