THE MARTIAN: Throughout the story, the Martian says that Mrs. LaFarge knows what he is and that the other townspeople, when they

encounter the Martian, know what he is. Why do you think the people do not care and want the Martian anyway, even though they know that what they are seeing and experiencing is not real?

Answer:

The people, even after knowing that what they are seeing and experiencing is not real, wanted the Martian because they all saw in him that one person who was mostly in their minds.

Explanation:

'The Martian Chronicles' is a Sci-Fi written by Ray Bradbury, of dystopian living of human on planet Mars, after nuclear war attacks on planet Earth.

In the account dated September 2005/2036, the novel chronicles about the life of LaFarge and his wife Anna, who lost their son Tom on Earth. One thunderstorming night, a figure like Tom appears on their door. LaFarge soon learns that he is not Tom, but a Martian, who has the ability of shape-shifting. Even after everyone in the town learned about 'the Martian', of who he is, they still wanted him because they all saw in him that person, who was mostly in their minds. For instance, the Martian appeared to be Tom, the dead son of LaFarge and Anna; and lost daughter Lavinia to Spaulding family; to some he appeared criminal, etc.

They wanted to have the Martian because they did not want to lose that person who was mostly on their minds once again.
