Most enslaved people were captured by other tribes during  the wars between different tribes and then sell to slavers, because of this some African leaders have an economic benefit as they captured enemies from other tribes and exchanged for other products from America or Europe while guaranteeing slaves were not part of their tribe, but prisoners from other tribes.
