Answer:

Baroque is a style that was characteristic of 17th and partly 16th and 18th century European architecture, fine arts, music and fiction. The Baroque era is characterized by a particularly lavish court life. Both art and society tried to create something different, extraordinary. Unlike the Renaissance artist, the Baroque artist is a genius who no longer imitates nature, but reshapes it only on the basis of his feelings and thoughts. It can also mean a conflict with nature: a baroque architect can create a castle on the basis of purely geometric-mathematical principles, even a swamp. For example, St. Petersburg is built on the swampy soil of the Neva delta. The ideal of the Baroque were man-made objects that stood out from nature and seemed as artificial as possible.
