The government under the Roman republic is considered  to be more successful as compared to government under the Roman empire because Roman republic was a democratic type of government which represents the citizens while the roman empire was ruled by one king. When Rome became republic, it gain strength and conquer large area of Mediterranean and lasts for 5 centuries but when we look on the duration of both government, roman empire is more successful than roman republic because roman empire last for 1000 years.
