Answer:

The doctrine of lapse was a policy of annexation initiated by the East India Company in the Indian subcontinent in relation to the princely states, and applied until 1859, two years after Company rule was succeeded by the British Raj. Elements of the doctrine of lapse continued to be applied by the post-independence Indian government to derecognise individual princely families until 1971, when the former ruling families were collectively derecognised.

19. England experienced all of the following hardships in the late 1500's prompting
anastassius [24]

In the 1500s, England had not yet began e. the widespread importation of African slaves into the British Isle.

The late 16th century and 17th centuries saw much change in England as a result of many factors including:

  • The Protestant Reformation which saw religious groups such as Catholics and Protestants come into conflict with each other
  • An increase in population that reduced public welfare
  • The introduction of enclosures which limited the movements of farmers and created the need for more land and,
  • International rivalry with Spain for the control of the seas.

At that point however, England had not yet become very active in the slave trade and so did not see a lot of enslaved Africans in the British Isles.

We can conclusively state that the British did not see many Africans who were enslaved coming into Britain in the late 1500s.
