Answer:

Letter a. Yes, yeasts can exist in an oxygen-poor environment.

Explanation:

Mitochondria are an organelle that we can find in the majority of eukaryotic cells. Mitochondria help in produces the energetical molecule of ATP. We start with one molecule of glucose that passes through a process called glycolysis to convert glucose into pyruvate. This pyruvate molecule can follow two pathways: when oxygen is available the pyruvate enter into the Krebs cycle and proceeds to the respiratory chain in the mitochondria, when oxygen is not present, pyruvate pass into another pathway, one is the alcoholic fermentation producing ethanol and dioxide of carbon.

As yeast are a eukaryotic organism, they have mitochondria and can grow in the presence of oxygen. When oxygen is absent yeast can grow using the fermentation pathway producing alcohol.

Describe how hair and nails are formed
Svetllana [295]

Each cell becomes a thin plate; these plates pile into layers to form the nail. As with hair, nails form by keratinization. When the nail cells accumulate, the nail pushes forward. The skin below the nail is the matrix.

Hair is made of a tough protein called keratin. A hair follicle anchors each hair into the skin. In the hair bulb, living cells divide and grow to build the hair shaft. Blood vessels nourish the cells in the hair bulb, and deliver hormones that modify hair growth and structure at different times of life

Nails start in the nail root, hidden under the cuticle. When cells at the root of the nail grow, the new nail cells push out the old nail cells. These old cells flatten and harden, thanks to keratin, a protein made by these cells. The newly formed nail then slides along the nail bed, the flat surface under your nails.

Without making any other adjustments the _____ can be increased by focusing properly.
Veronika [31]

Resolution is the ability that a microscope has to distinguish fine details. Without making any other adjustments the RESOLUTION can be increased by focusing properly in a brightfield microscope.

A brightfield microscope (also called compound light microscope) is a light microscope that produces dark images against a bright background.

The brightfield microscope is widely used in cellular biology and microbiological laboratories.

The resolution of the brightfield microscope is limited to 0.2 micrometers (µm).

This maximum value can be reached by changing the objective lens.
