During cellular respiration what is the direct source of the energu used in the cells of consumers?
nexus9112 [7]

Answer:

Consumers use chemical energy from the chemical bonds within organic molecules such as carbohydrates, lipids, and amino acids.

Explanation:

Heterotrophs are consumers; they ingest or absorb organic matter (lipids, carbohydrates, proteins, etc.) made by autotrophs or producers for their energy consumption. Autotrophs include plants, bacteria, and other photosynthesizing organisms, while heterotrophs include animals, fungi, protists, and bacteria.

Heterotrophs obtain energy from food through the process of cellular respiration. For instance, during aerobic respiration in mitochondria, they break down sugars in the form of glucose into carbon dioxide and water to obtain energy in the form of ATP or adenosine triphosphate.

aerobic respiration: C6H12O6+ 6 O2 → 6 CO2 + 6 H2O + ≅38 ATP

                                      glucose+ oxygen → carbon dioxide+ water+ energy

How can colonies of organisms be produced by budding?
marissa [1.9K]
Many species of sponges and the Hydra perform external budding. Cells will quickly divide within them and develop on the surface of the organism. These cells will form branches or extensions of the parent as they develop into a new organism.

Explain why most farmers use stem cuttings to plant new fruit trees rather than plant seeds.
Dvinal [7]

The main reason that most farmers use stem cuttings rather than just planting a seed is that a tree's genetic variation will occur. The seeds of many fruit trees tend to vary differently from the parent, because seeds themselves are produced by sexual reproduction (i.e they receive genes from a male and female to form). As they are a cross from two sets of genes, many fruit trees are not “true to seed”. Their seeds will produce a generally different variety of tree from the parent. When using stem cuttings, it's almost like a cloning process.
