The missions were built by the Spanish starting in 1769 in order to "colonize" the territory of Alta California<span>, which they had discovered over two centuries earlier. There had been various proposals over the years to do something with this territory, but it was hard reaching the coast of </span>Alta<span> California from New Spain (</span>Mexico<span>) in those days, sailing against the wind and currents, and Spain had other priorities. What finally moved them to act was the fact that Russian fur trappers were moving farther and farther down the Coast (from their bases in Alaska) and were spotted near present day San Francisco in 1760s.</span>

3 most important things about the Salem witch trials
olya-2409 [2.1K]
1) The Salem Witch Trials basically kind of started the "Innocent until proven otherwise" saying/deal since they were basically executing innocents without any proof.

This is honestly all I got, even my history professor said the Salem Witch Trials weren't really important but he went over it because that was part of our section and we had the learn it, we only went over it for one day.

What were the drawbacks of having a railroad run through your city in the 1800s?
Snowcat [4.5K]
-The benefits might include job creations because maybe the train would break and then someone had to fix it. Another benefit would be that supplies would be available in your town. Also you could be more connected to others because there is transportation from your town to someone else's town. -The negatives might be pollution problems because they train might puff out smoke. Also having a train run through your town could be very noisy.
