Las regiones de la planta capaces de dar origen a un nuevo organismos se conocen como propágulos, los cuales pueden ser rizomas (a partir de raíces), tubérculos (tallos), estolones (brote laterales), etc. Diferentes tipos de suculentas tales como, por ejemplo, <em>Sedum morganianum</em>, Sedum<em> rubrotinctum</em>, <em>Kalanchoe daigremontiana</em> y <em>Graptosedum</em> o “California Sunset” se reproducen vegetativamente mediante propágulos foliares.
