omeli [17]

36 two credit courses and 11 three credit courses has been taken.

<u>SOLUTION: </u>

Given, each course in college X is worth either two or three credits. The members of the men’s swim team are taking a total of 47 courses that are worth a total of 105 credits .

We have to number of two credit courses and three credit courses are being taken .

Now, let the number of 2 credits courses be n, then number of 3 credits courses will be 47-n.

And, according to the given information,  Total credits = 105

\begin{array}{l}{\rightarrow \text { Credits for two credit courses }+\text { credits from three credits courses }=105} \\\\ {\rightarrow 2 \times \text { number of two credit courses }+3 \times \text { number of three lcredit courses }=105} \\\\ {\rightarrow 2 \times n+3 \times(47-n)=105} \\\\ {\rightarrow 2 n+141-3 n=105} \\\\ {\rightarrow 3 n-2 n=141-105} \\\\ {\rightarrow n=36}\end{array}

So, two credits courses count is 36, the three credit courses count is 47-36 = 11
