I have 1 word problem and a math problem. (word prob)A light-year is the distance that light travels in a year and is equivalent

to 9.461 * 10^12. Write this distance in standard form.
(math prob) Order the list of numbers from least to greatest.
8.5*10^12,3.6*10^8,5.85*10^-3, 2.5*10^-1,8.5*10^8. ( This ^ means there are square roots for the numbers).

My math class is real soon. Pls, answer them. Thanks!!

Answer:

1. 9461000000000

move the desimal in 9.461 12 places to the right to get:

9461000000000

2.

5.85 x 10^-3,

2.5 x 10^-1,

3.6 x 10^8,

8.5 x 10^8,

8.5 x 10^12

the smallest exponent is the smallest. Since 8.5 x 10^8 and 3.6 x 10^8 have the same exponent, go to the desimal

\large\underline{\sf{Solution-}}

<u>Let us assume that:</u>

\sf \longmapsto x =  \sqrt{6 +  \sqrt{6 +  \sqrt{6 + ... \infty } } }

We can also write it as:

\sf \longmapsto x =  \sqrt{6 +  x }

Squaring both sides, we get:

\sf \longmapsto  {x}^{2}  =6 +  x

\sf \longmapsto  {x}^{2} - x - 6  =0

By splitting the middle term:

\sf \longmapsto  {x}^{2} - 3x + 2x - 6  =0

\sf \longmapsto x(x - 3) + 2(x - 3 ) =0

\sf \longmapsto (x+ 2)(x - 3 ) =0

<u>Therefore:</u>

\longmapsto\begin{cases} \sf (x+ 2) =0 \\ \sf (x - 3) = 0 \end{cases}

\sf \longmapsto x =  - 2,3

<u>But x cannot be negative. </u>

\sf \longmapsto x = 3

Therefore, the value of the expression is 3.

\large\underline{\sf{Verification-}}

Given:

\sf\longmapsto x=3

We can also write it as:

\sf\longmapsto x = \sqrt{9}

\sf\longmapsto x = \sqrt{6+3}

\sf\longmapsto x = \sqrt{6 + \sqrt{9}}

\sf\longmapsto x = \sqrt{6 + \sqrt{6+3}}

\sf\longmapsto x = \sqrt{6 + \sqrt{6+\sqrt{9}}}

\sf\longmapsto x = \sqrt{6 + \sqrt{6+\sqrt{6+3}}}

This pattern will continue.

\sf\longmapsto x = \sqrt{6 + \sqrt{6+\sqrt{6+...\infty}}}

(look at image) can someone explain to me how to do number 1
Rufina [12.5K]

Answer:

so it would be y= -4x + 3

Step-by-step explanation:

its asking to write the equation in slope-intercept form so y=mx+b m in this case is -4 and b whihc is the y-intercept is 3 so you just write the equation y= -4x + 3
