P( x) =x^3-6x^2-5x-14 What is the remainder R when the polynomial p(x) is divided by (x-7)
Igoryamba

Answer:

The remainder is zero

Step-by-step explanation:

To find the remainder we will use the long division

\frac{x^{3}-6x^{2}-5x-14}{x-7}=x^{2}\frac{x^{2}-5x-14 }{x-7}⇒(1)

\frac{x^{2}-5x-14}{x-7}=x\frac{2x-14}{x-7}⇒(2)

\frac{2x-14}{x-7}=2⇒(3)

From (1) , (2) and (3)

The quotient of the long division is x^{2}+x+2 and no remainder

So the remainder is zero

* If you want to check your answer Multiply the quotient by the divisor

(x^{2}+x+2)(x-7)=x^{3}-6x^{2}-5x-14

Country Motorbikes Incorporated finds that it costs $400 to produce each motorbike, and that fixed costs are $1600 per day. The
faltersainse [42]

Answer:

30units,2900

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that Country Motorbikes Incorporated finds that it costs $400 to produce each motorbike, and that fixed costs are $1600 per day.

The price function is p(x) = 700 − 5x, where p is the price (in dollars) at which exactly x motorbikes will be sold.

If x units are produced and sold we have

Costs for x units = variable costs *x +Fixed costs = 400x+1600

Sales revenue = no of units sold * price = x(700-5x) = 700x-5x^2

Profit funciton = P(x) = Sales revenue - Total cost

= 700x-5x^2-400x-1600\\=300x-5x^2-1600

To get maximum profit we use derivative test I derivative =0 and II derivative =negative

P'(x) = 300-10x\\p"(x) = -10

Producing 30 units will maximize the profit.

Max profit

=P(30) = 2900

Phoebe, Andy and Polly share £270.
Stella [2.4K]
*Given
Money of Phoebe            - 3 times as much as Andy
Money of Andy                - 2 times as much as Polly
Total money of Phoebe,  - <span>£270
</span>    Andy and Polly

*Solution

Let
B - Phoebe's money
A - Andy's money
L - Polly's money

1. The money of the Phoebe, Andy, and Polly, when added together would total <span>£270. Thus,
</span>
                  B + A + L  = <span>£270                     (EQUATION 1)

2. Phoebe has three times as much money as Andy and this is expressed as

                  B = 3A

3. Andy has twice as much money as Polly and this is expressed as

                  A = 2L</span>                           (EQUATION 2)
<span>
4. This means that Phoebe has ____ as much money as Polly,

                 B = 3A
                 B = 3 x (2L)
                 B = 6L                            </span>(EQUATION 3)<span>

This step allows us to eliminate the variables B and A in EQUATION 1 by expressing the equation in terms of Polly's money only.

5. Substituting B with 6L, and A with 2L, EQUATION 1 becomes,

                  6L + 2L + L = </span><span>£270
</span>                                9L = <span>£270
</span>                                  L = <span>£30

So, Polly has </span><span>£30.

6. Substituting L into EQUATIONS 2 and 3 would give us the values for Andy's money and Phoebe's money, respectively.
</span>
                  A = 2L
                  A = 2(£30)
                  A = £60

Andy has £60

                  B = 6L
                  B = 6(£30)
                  B = £180

Phoebe has £180

Therefore, Polly's money is £30, Andy's is £60, and Phoebe's is £180.

Why do you think we have more protests in modern times than in earlier time periods?
Wittaler [7]
I think there are more protests in modern day times rather then in the earlier time periods, because people are now more aware of their rights, and how they influence the way their country is run. Also, nowadays most countries are democratic, meaning that everyone can express their opinions and people protest as a way of expressing their opinions about something.
