Curling is a team sport that is popular in many countries around the world, including Canada, Germany, England, and Sweden. This

sport involves two teams taking turns guiding a heavy stone ball, or “rock,” across an indoor ice field. Curling was first played in Scotland in the sixteenth century, and early matches were played on frozen rivers or lakes. Today, Scotland still holds many curling events, and it is the home of the World Curling Federation, which oversees the game's regulations.
A curling match is played between two teams with four players each. Two members of the team, called sweepers, slide down the ice and guide the rocks down the ice with brooms. Each team has eight rocks, and team members take turns "sweeping" the rocks towards the rings on each side of the ice field. When all of the rocks have been played, each team's score is calculated and the winner is announced. A curling team wins when they have the highest number of rocks inside their team’s ring. Curling became an Olympic sport in 1998 and is gaining popularity in many countries, including the United States. .Which of the following would be most helpful for scoring points in curling?
A.
being able to carry the rock across the ice
B.
being able to run quickly across the ice
C.
being able to take the other team's rock
D.
being able to slide quickly into the goal
