Write an expository essay of minimum 250-300 words following the guidelines in lesson 8 &9. In lesson 8 there explaining “The expository essay and the writing process” gives information, or simplifies an idea to the audience and gives steps that are important to follow when writing any type of essay, report, or story. And in lesson 9 there explaining “Transition and writing an expository essay” gives a word or a group of words used to organize the ideas in sentences or paragraphs. A person who writes an effective essay should know how to use transitions. These helps the reader know when new ideas are added and allow the ideas of an essay to flow smoothly... So therefore the writing prompt topic is “Explain the importance of not giving in to peer pressure.”

Answer:

Peer pressure feeds on the things that frighten us. ... Students often give in to peer pressure because they don't want to be rejected by friends. Youth are also much less likely to be sure of themselves or what they want, making them more susceptible to peer pressure that pushes them to test boundariesPeer Pressure. Peers play a large role in the social and emotional development of children and adolescents. Their influence begins at an early age and increases through the teenage years. It is natural, healthy and important for children to have and rely on friends as they grow and mature. but you should listen to what you think is right and you should be able to tell what's right from wrong and not have to be told by kids who are younger or few years older than you and are very careless to tell you how to do things. I do not you can get yourself into so much harm and you're easy to get manipulated by if you consistently listen to people that tell you those things and especially if they're not your parents or an adult that you know either. because people can tell you so many things just because they want to see you fail. peer pressure is not a good thing to live the rest of your life with or to just have a simple moment to and you should honestly not do the same thing to other people don't pressure them into doing something that you know for a fact that you couldn't do yourself.

Which lists the correct order of the steps used to analyze how diction creates mood in a text?
Rudik [331]

The sentence which lists the correct order of the steps used to analyze how diction creates mood in a text is:

A. analyze the author's word choice, determine the connotations of words, identify the mood of the text.

  • Diction is directly related to word choice. It refers to the style of an author's writing, and it helps create a certain mood.

  • To analyze diction, first we must identify which words in a piece of writing seem stronger than the others.

  • Then, we analyze those words' connotation, that is, the meaning they convey.

  • Finally, we can come to a conclusion about the mood of the text.

  • For example, in "Silent Spring" by Rachel Carson, the author uses words such as "violent", "war", "deadlier", and "crossfire" to discuss the use of pesticides.

  • Those words carry strong connotations related to death and aggression.

  • With that, the author creates a serious, pessimistic mood. Her intention is to evoke uneasiness in her audience when it comes to the use of pesticides and its effects in nature.
