In Strophe 1, what extended metaphor does

English

Answer:

"once the anger of heaven has struck, that house is shaken".

Explanation:

In Strophe 1, Chorus remarks "once the anger of heaven has struck, that house is shaken" to portray a family being punished by the gods. By these line, he means that once gods' vengeance befall upon a family, the whole family will be crushed and destroyed.

This metaphor relates to the fact that Creon, who thought that he was all powerful to condemn anyone to death, was in fact not at par with the gods because he pays the price of his actions with the lives of his son and wife. It establishes the fact that humans do not determine the fate of themselves or any other person.

Read the excerpt from The Code Book. Just as Whit Diffie predicted in the early 1970s, we are now entering the Information Age,
k0ka [10]

Answer:

  • What kind of information is the author talking about?
  • What does the word "commodity" mean?
  • What role does digital information play in society?

Explanation:

The three questions selected above are very important to be used during the text interpretation process, because when trying to answer these questions the reader can understand the sentence "information is the most valuable commodity" which is essential for understanding the text as a whole.

That's because these questions point to the main message that the text wants to convey, as it focuses on the value of information in modern life and how it can be used commercially, increasing its value. Furthermore, these questions establish the importance of the internet within this system that is only likely to grow.

How does the author introduce the debate surrounding teaching televisions in the classroom?
Olenka [21]

The author argues for broadening the scope of what is considered literature and what is okay to teach in classrooms.

Explanation:

The author's argument is that the television and film have been forays old enough to be morally and culturally significant as literature as a large population grows up with exposure to it and its existence shapes their worldview too.

Thus it can be taught in the schools to show what is good and what is not on these forms too as well as to understand what is important in cultural context in these art forms too and what must be preserved as a society.

how can i support the single-sex schools? please help i have a debate language due tomorrow about this topic
nydimaria [60]
People work better without distractions. If you mix people of the opposite sex then one thing will always happen no matter what, relationships will form. Relationships are a good thing but at school, they are extremely distracting people often come in late because they chose to spend passing period with their partner, ditch classes, and sometimes even ditch school itself for a day with them. Not to mention if they are in the same classroom they will constantly be focusing on one another. So if this was eliminated people would be able to focus more on their schoolwork and won't have a huge distraction during school, this would leave relationships for off campus.

Hope this helped. Have a great day!
