The minimum value of both sine and cosine is -1. However the angles that produce the minimum values are different, -\pi/2, \pi for sine and cosine respectively.

The question is, can we find an angle for which the sum of sine and cosine of such angle is less than the sum of values at any other angle.

Here is a procedure, first take a derivative

\frac{d}{dx}(\sin x+\cos x)=\cos x -\sin x

Then compute critical points of a derivative

\cos x-\sin x=0\implies x_1=\frac{\pi}{4},x_2=\frac{5\pi}{4}.

Then evaluate \sin x +\cos x at x_1,x_2.

You will obtain global maxima and global minima \sqrt{2}, -\sqrt{2} respectively.

The answer is -\sqrt{2}.

Hope this helps.

Morgarella [4.7K]

Answer:

24 : 84 = 2 : 7

Step-by-step explanation:

We can simplify the ratio 24 : 84 by dividing both terms by the greatest common factor (GCF).

The GCF of 24 and 84 is 12.

Divide both terms by 12.

24 ÷ 12 = 2

84 ÷ 12 = 7

Therefore:

24 : 84 = 2 : 7

aleksandr82 [10.1K]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

I'm not sure what the question is asking, but if you mean the angles in the blue lines

First one, we know that the full length is 90, and it has gacen us 80, so the angle would be 10

Second one, we see that the angle is still 90, and since the given degree is 30, the unkown angle would be 60

Third one, the given angle is 75 so 90-75=15.

The answers would be 10, 60, and 15.
