A. What economic opportunities did the South offer African-American residents, both from rural areas and from
bixtya [17]

Answer:

The South did not offer a lot of opportunities for African-Americans. Both in rural areas and the cities, as they experienced significant prejudice.

Explanation:

While the Civil war ended and slavery was outlawed, the reconstruction era brought a lot of difficulties for the freed slaves. The black codes were laws that provided some rights to black people but also limited their right to a fair trial.

Many African-Americans migrated to Northern States, while the ones left over, continued to find work on the rural plantations.

The cities were few and not as industrialized as in the North and the work was limited to cleaning, or other labor work.

Former slaves, who had no skills and education, continued to work on the lands owned by White people but the only difference was that they could now 'rent' the land and work on it.

Many slaves were able to take over land from their former masters after the end of the War, but this was quickly reversed.

Extreme poverty among African Americans was common in rural areas.

Noam Chomsky is one of the most recognized names of our time; his contributions to linguistics and the implications of his theories for studies on the workings of the human mind have rocked the intellectual world for over fifty years, beginning with the critical reception of his first book on Syntactic Structures (1957), his review of Skinner’s Verbal Behaviour for Language in 1959, and the range of books he produced in the 1960s, including his assessment of Current Issues in Linguistic Theory in 1964, Aspects of the Theory of Syntax in 1965, Topics in the Theory of Generative Grammar in 1966, Cartesian Linguistics: A Chapter in the History of Rationalist Thought, also in 1966, Language and Mind in 1968, and (with Morris Halle) The Sound Pattern of English (1968). Since then, the flow of linguistic work has been profuse, as Chomsky overturnedprevailing paradigms in fields concerned with the study of language and set the stage for the rethinking of the whole field of linguistics, often with overt reference to approaches first articulated during the Enlightenment. During this same period, Chomsky’s very public crusade against the Vietnam War, recorded in the pages of the New York Review of Books and assembled in American Power and the New Mandarins, his on-going critique of American foreign policy, his analyses of the Middle East and Central America, his long-standing local and international activism, and his studies (sometimes with Edward Herman) of how media functions in contemporary society, have combined to provoke some very strong feelings, positive and negative, about him and his work. The effect that he has upon people on account of his actions and his views extends across national, social, and institutional lines, and the ever-growing corpus of work he has undertaken in the political realm is a remarkable testament to what an intellectual can accomplish when engaged ‘beyond the ivory tower’.

Mayan traders transported goods in two ways. One was to carry the goods on their back, and the other was __________.
Effectus [21]

Mayan traders were known to transport their goods via b. canoe

For all their advancements, the Maya never came up with the wheel and did not have donkeys and horses to carry goods when they were trading. They therefore had two main ways of transporting goods:

 • goods were carried by people on their backs
 • goods were carried in very large canoes that could take over 15 people sometimes

The Maya who carried goods on their backs were normally enslaved people or people who they paid to carry the goods and so large quantities of goods could not be traded overland effectively.

In conclusion, the Maya used both canoes and people to transport goods.
