He even wrote his own autobiography titled ‘The Interesting Narrative of the Life of Olaudah Equiano or Gustavus Vassa, the African.’ He was a part of the “Sons of Africa,” and his autobiography that he self-published spread to be the most detailed account of the Middle Passage from a firsthand account of someone actually traveling along the route.
