4 LANGUAGE ARTS QUESTIONS PLEASE HELP
Alexxandr [17]
1. And the meeting house windows, blank and bare, / Gaze at him with a spectral glare.
This is a <em>couplet</em>. You can tell this because there are two lines, a couple, as indicated by the slash between the phrases, as well as the end words rhyming.
2. A glimmer, and then a gleam of light / He springs to the saddle, the bridle he turns / But lingers and gazes, till full on his sight / A second lamp in the belfry burns.
This excerpt, I believe, is meant to highlight the <em>end rhymes</em>. You see, in the first and third lines, the last words rhyme, and the second and fourth lines' last words rhyme.
3. ...the Mystic meeting...
Seeing as how this is so incredibly short, and both "mystic" and "meeting" start with an "m", it is safe to assume that this is meant to highlight an <em>alliteration</em>. An alliteration is when two or more words in a row start with the same letter. A famous alliteration is in the tongue twister, "she sells seashells by the sea shore."
4. ...like a sentinel's thread / The watchful night wind...
This is a <em>simile</em>. Both similes and metaphors compare one thing to something generally more abstract in order to describe it better. In order to tell if something is a simile or a metaphor is to look for the words "like" or "as," because those are used in similes, but not metaphors. Since this uses the word "like," it is safe to assume that this is a simile.

What is the perimeter of rhombus WXYZ?<br><br> units<br> 12 units<br> units<br> 20 units
timama [110]
Let O be the intersection of the vertical line through ZX, and the horizontal line through YW.

The coordinates of this point are clearly (5, 2) as it is at the same x-coordinate as X and Z, and y-coordinate as Y and W.

So, YZO is a right triangle. By the Pythagorean theorem:

ZY= \sqrt{{YO}^2+{OZ}^2}= \sqrt{2^2+3^2}= \sqrt{4+9}= \sqrt{13}.

Since all sides of a rhombus are equal, then the perimeter is :

                               P(XWZY)=4 \sqrt{13} units.

Answer: third choice.

The points (10, -10) and (8, -10) fall on a particular line. What is its equation in slope-intercept form?
blondinia [14]

y = 0x - 10 is the equation in slope-intercept form given that the points (10, -10) and (8, -10) which fall on a particular line. This can be obtained by the formula of the slope-intercept form of the line.

<h3>What is its equation in slope-intercept form?</h3>
  • Linear equation is an equation that models a linear function.

In linear equation the variables are raised to the first power.

Example, Linear equation: 2x + 3, Not a linear equation: x² + 5

The graph of a linear equation contains all the ordered pair that are solutions of the equation.

The equation of a line is given by,

y = mx + c, m is the slope of the equation, c is the y intercept

m = \frac{y_{2} -y_{1} }{x_{2} -x_{1} },  y intercept is the y coordinate of the point where y crosses the y axis.

Here in the question it is given that,

The points (10, -10) and (8, -10) fall on a particular line.

We have to find the equation in slope-intercept form.

Slope of the equation will be,

m = \frac{y_{2} -y_{1} }{x_{2} -x_{1} } ⇒ m = \frac{-10 -(-10) }{8 -10 } ⇒ m = 0

y-intercept of the equation will be,

y = mx + c ⇒ -10 = 0 + c ⇒ c = -10

The equation of the line in slope-intercept form will be,

y = 0x -10

Hence y = 0x - 10 is the equation in slope-intercept form given that the points (10, -10) and (8, -10) which fall on a particular line.
