Sandy experimented with the placement of the straw and the balloon while making this air powered toy car. He taped the straw and

balloon to face toward the right. He told Tim that his toy will travel to the right. Tim said that Sandy was wrong. The toy will gradually spin in a circle. Which boy was right and why?.

Neither the boy is right. The car will move in the opposite direction, to the left.

If a body moves through a fluid (a gas, a liquid or a vapor, and even air), a force arises that opposes this movement, causing the body to assume a opposite movement. When it comes to air, this force is called the air resistance force.

In the case of the above question, Sandy put a straw to direct the air to the right, because of the resistance force, the car will go the opposite way causing the car to move to the left.

The answer is D) Neither boy is right. The car will move in the opposite direction, to the left. When he taped the straw and balloon to face toward the right, this will indicate the the air flow will go to the right side making the car move in the left side.
