The earlier development of modernism style was derived from the rejection of conforming to conservative values. Rather than strictly following the footsteps of past artists, modernist Artists wanted to express their artistic vision into a newer medium that could represent them.
At first, These new modern medium were objects of mockery in Artistic communities. But it's gradually gained its popularity until eventually modernism became the dominant idea of art in 1960s.
