In order to caluclate the specific activity of the isolated
Anastaziya [24]

Answer:

Explanation:

This is evident that all enzymes are proteins but not all proteins are enzymes. The specific activity can be define as the number of enzyme units per milliliters that is divided by the available concentration of the proteins typically in mg/ml. Thus the value of the specific activity can be measured in  units/mg.

In others words this can be said that how much enzymes units can be found in the 1 mg of the total protein. So in the total concentration of the proteins the estimation of the enzyme units is possible. Thus protein concentration is necessary for calculating the number of the enzyme units.

What does it mean to say that an allele is "fixed" in the population?
Gemiola [76]
Alleles are the individual genes that give rise to certain characteristics in an organism.

When an allele is "fixed" to a population, this means that the characteristic will be constant & most likely will not change until the environment changes as well.

Like with arctic hare, the alleles that influence the color of their coats (white in the winter & brown in the spring/summer) will stay because any fur pattern other than the aforementioned characteristics with result in becoming someone else's food with the lack of camouflage.

Hope that helps!

The ability of body systems to increase their function, given the need to adapt, is known as the The ability of body systems to
Whitepunk [10]

Answer:

The ability of body systems to increase their function, given the need to adapt, is known as the <u>physiologic reserve.</u>

Explanation:

The ability of body systems to increase their function if the need to adapt arises is known as a physiological reserve. Frequently, this term is used to refer to the operating limits of a particular physiological system when under stress. When this stress exceeds the ability of a particular organ or system to compensate for it, organ failure occurs. Adaptation achieves its highest efficiency when changes are generated gradually/progressively rather than abruptly. In aging, this reserve is diminished and therefore the ability of the organs to adapt to stress is lower, that is, the ability to adapt is reduced in extreme ages.
