In a shuffleboard game, the puck slides on a horizontal floor before coming to complete stop. If the coefficient of kinetic fric

tion between the puck and floor is 0.5 and the initial speed of the puck is 14.8m/s what distance did the puck travel (in meters before coming to a stop? Use kinematics and forces for in your solution (i.e. not energy).

Answer:

22.33 m

Explanation:

We are given;

Coefficient of kinetic friction between the puck and floor; μ = 0.5

initial speed of the puck; u = 14.8m/s

From Newton's equation of motion, we know that;

v² = u² + 2as

But since it decelerate to rest, the acceleration will be negative.

Thus;

v² = u² - 2as

Final velocity is zero, thus;

0 = u² - 2as

Thus, a = u²/2s

Where s is the distance covered before coming to rest.

Now, we know that formula for the frictional force is;

F = μmg

F/m = μg

We also know that F/m = a

Thus, a = μg

Thus:

u²/2s = μg

s = u²/(2μg)

s = 14.8²/(2 × 0.5 × 9.81)

s = 22.33 m

IrinaK [193]

Answer:

a.       I Disagree with Faith's method of handling this situation because she has not followed the internal control principle of safeguarding of assets. Stealing is a serious issue. An employee who can justify taking a box of tea bags can probably justify “borrowing” cash from the cash register.

b.      I Agree with Faith's method of handling this situation because Faith has followed the internal control principle of assignment of responsibility by making one employee responsible for the cash drawer and followed the internal control principle of segregation of duties (preparing the orders) from the accounting (taking orders and payments).

c.       I disagree with Faith's method of handling this situation because Faith has not followed the internal control principle of segregation of duties. It is true that faith has made one employee responsible however after cash counting another employee or Faith himself remove the cash register tape and compare the balance with cash drawer for effective internal control. Also, Faith’s standard of no mistakes may encourage the cashiers to overcharge a few customers in order to cover any possible shortages in the cash drawer.

A decline in the real GDP that occurs for at least two or more quarters is called a depression. The correct option among all the options that are given in the question is option "b". There is a very thin line of difference between recession and depression. when the real GDP falls for a repeated number of periods, then it is depression.

Kunkel company makes two products and uses a conventional costing system in which a single plantwide predetermined overhead rate
miss Akunina [59]

Answer:

using conventional costing system:

  • unit cost mercon = $21.40
  • unit cost wurcon = $90.80

total production costs using conventional costing system:

  • 4,000 units of mercon = 4,000 x $21.40 = $85,600
  • 8,000 units of wurcon = 8,000 x $90.80 = $726,400

Explanation:

                                                    Mercon           Wurcon

Direct materials cost per unit       $9.00             $7.00

Direct labor cost per unit             $6.00              $7.00

Direct labor-hours per unit            0.20                2.40

overhead rate applied                 $6.40            $76.80

Number of units produced          4,000              8,000

overhead rate = total overhead / total direct labor hours = $640,000 / [(4,000 x 0.20) + (8,000 x 2.40)] = $640,000 / 20,000 = $32 per direct labor hour

unit cost mercon = $9 + $6 + $6.40 = $21.40

unit cost wurcon = $7 + $7 + $76.80 = $90.80
