In a shuffleboard game, the puck slides on a horizontal floor before coming to complete stop. If the coefficient of kinetic fric

tion between the puck and floor is 0.5 and the initial speed of the puck is 14.8m/s what distance did the puck travel (in meters before coming to a stop? Use kinematics and forces for in your solution (i.e. not energy).

Answer:

22.33 m

Explanation:

We are given;

Coefficient of kinetic friction between the puck and floor; μ = 0.5

initial speed of the puck; u = 14.8m/s

From Newton's equation of motion, we know that;

v² = u² + 2as

But since it decelerate to rest, the acceleration will be negative.

Thus;

v² = u² - 2as

Final velocity is zero, thus;

0 = u² - 2as

Thus, a = u²/2s

Where s is the distance covered before coming to rest.

Now, we know that formula for the frictional force is;

F = μmg

F/m = μg

We also know that F/m = a

Thus, a = μg

Thus:

u²/2s = μg

s = u²/(2μg)

s = 14.8²/(2 × 0.5 × 9.81)

s = 22.33 m

Labuk is a 20-year employee of Whirley Corporation. During his career with Whirley, Labuk has felt uncomfortable with his superv
nata0808 [166]

Answer:

a. Labuk does not have a harassment claim based on national origin because these two incidents, although offensive, do not create a hostile work environment.

Explanation:

In order for Labuk to have a valid harassment claim, his supervisor must have created an offensive and hostile work environment. Apparently, the supervisor's bad attitude is not shared by Labuk's colleagues, at least it doesn't say so in the question.

The supervisor's attitude might not have been appropriate, but two incidents in 20 years is something can happen to anyone and not just Labuk. Imagine how many times an employee might argue or have some type of dispute with a supervisor during 20 years. Labuk should have reported both incidents to a company's manager.

prisoha [69]

Two of the major advantages of a pass-through entity are that investors can assume the tax deductions and losses earnings.

An option to lower taxable income is a tax deduction. A standard deduction is a single, predetermined deduction. Higher-income taxpayers frequently have considerable deductible expenses, such as state and local taxes paid, mortgage interest, and charitable contributions, which is why itemized deductions are popular.

Any expense that is deemed "ordinary, necessary, and reasonable" and aids in the revenue generation of a firm is tax deductible. Usually, it is subtracted from the business's income before taxes.
