Add up the same sides of both equations to eliminate <em>x</em> :
(<em>x</em> - 2<em>y</em>) + (-<em>x</em> + 3<em>y</em>) = 8 + (-5)
(<em>x</em> - <em>x</em>) + (-2<em>y</em> + 3<em>y</em>) = 8 - 5
<em>y</em> = 3
Then
<em>x</em> - 2<em>y</em> = <em>x</em> - 6 = 8 → <em>x</em> = 14
Liability Insurance Example:
A contractor is installing a new sink in your kitchen.
Unfortunately, one of his co-workers left the water running after they finished and your house got flooded.
The water seeps into the floors and the walls of the finished basement.
Now, you sue them $200,000 for all the damage done to your house, all because of his coworker's careless mistake.
It’s 2 times the variable
So you could do it by 180=35+90+c
Then you would add 35 and 90 to get 125
Then you would subtract 125 from both sides
That would leave you with 55=c
So then the measure of angle C would be 55
C=55
