The majority of the houses and other infrastructure gets totally destroyed, and the bad organization often lives the people on their own.
The results of this unfortunately are thousands of dead, badly injured, homeless, lack of food, lack of freshwater, and enormous material damage. This can easily be seen in the likes of:

In my opinion, I find it better to consume local products rather than global products. I say this because I believe it’s good to support your local community instead of a global company that’s already big. Local products are probably less transported into places meaning there is a low risk of it being infectious.
