A perishable dairy product is ordered daily at a particular supermarket. The product costs $1.16 per unit and sells for $1.75 pe

r unit. If units are unsold at the end of the day, the supplier takes them back at a rebate of $1 per unit. Assume that daily demand is approximately normally distributed with μ= 155 and σ =35.
Required:
a. What is your recommended daily order quantity for the supermarket?
b. What is the probability that the supermarket will sell all the units it orders?
c. In problems such as these, why would the supplier offer a rebate as high as $1?

Answer:

a) 174

b) 21.33%

c) The supplier will offer a rebate as high as $1 because the supermarket orders higher quantity of goods and also in order to encourage the purchase of goods by the supermarket.

Step-by-step explanation:

product cost = $1.16 per unit

sell price = $1.75

Rebate = $1

Daily demand : μ = 155 , б = 35

<u>a) Determine the recommended daily order quantity </u>

shortage = sell price  - cost  = 1.75 - 1.16 = $0.59

Excess ( overage ) = cost - rebate = 1.16 - 1 = $0.16

service level = shortage / ( shortage + excess ) = 0.59 / ( 0.59 + 0.16 ) = 0.7867

therefore the Z-value = 0.8 also Mean value = 150 , std = 30

note : values gotten from Appendix table

∴ Recommended daily order quantity = Mean + ( z * std )

                                                               = 150 ( 0.8 * 30 ) = 174

<u>b) Determine the probability that the supermarket will sell all units ordered</u>

= 1 - service level

= 1 - 0.7867 = 0.2133 = 21.33%

c) The supplier will offer a rebate as high as $1 when the supermarket orders higher quantity of goods

Answer:

D. 55%

Step-by-step explanation:

The error range ± 9% means that the range is 9% below 62% or 9% above 62%.

The range is:

(62% - 9%) to (62% + 9%)

53% to 71%.

The only answer between 53% and 71% is 55%.

Answers A, B, C are all greater than 71%.

Three consecutive odd integers have a sum of 27. Find the integers.

\sf \bf {\boxed {\mathbb {GIVEN:}}}

Sum of three consecutive odd integers = 27

\sf \bf {\boxed {\mathbb {TO\:FIND:}}}

The values of the three integers.

\sf \bf {\boxed {\mathbb {SOLUTION:}}}

\sf\purple{The\:three\:consecutive \:odd\:integers\:are\:7,\:9\:and\:11.}

\sf \bf {\boxed {\mathbb {STEP-BY-STEP\:\:EXPLANATION:}}}

Let us assume the three consecutive odd integers to be x, (x+2) and (x+4).

As per the condition, we have

Sum \:  \:  of \:  \:  the  \:  \: three \:  \:  consecutive \:  \:  odd \:  \:  integers  = 27

➺ \: x + (x + 2) + (x + 4) = 27

➺ \: x + x + 2 + x + 4 = 27

Now, collect the like terms.

➺ \: (x + x + x) + (2 + 4) = 27

➺ \: 3x + 6 = 27

➺ \: 3x = 27 - 6

➺ \: 3x = 21

➺ \: x =  \frac{21}{3} \\

➺ \: x = 7

Therefore, the three consecutive odd integers whose sum is 27 are \boxed{  7  }, \boxed{ 9   } and \boxed{ 11   } respectively.

\sf \bf {\boxed {\mathbb {TO\:VERIFY :}}}

⇢ 7 + 9 + 11 = 27

⇢ 27 = 27

Which of the following points is a vertex for the image produced by a dilation about the origin with a scale factor of 1/2?
MA_775_DIABLO [31]

Answer:

A (0,3)

Step-by-step explanation:

The given trapezoid has vertices:

(0,6), (7,12), (7,9) and (0,12).

We want to choose from the given options, a point that is a vertex for the image produced by a dilation about the origin with a scale factor of 1/2.

Note that the mapping for such a dilation is:

(x,y)\to( \frac{1}{2} x, \frac{1}{2} y)

This implies that:

(0,6)\to(0,3)

(7,12)\to(3.5,6)

(7,9)\to(3.5,4.5)

(0,12)\to(0,6)

Therefore correct choice is (0,3)
