Read the following excerpt from Michael W. McConnell’s Oral Argument to the U.S. Supreme Court, Horne vs. Department of Agricult

ure.
Mr. Chief Justice, and may it please the Court:
Thank you for being willing to hear this little case a second time. It does involve some important principles and the livelihoods of Marvin and Laura Horne, and more indirectly, hundreds of small California raisin growers will be profoundly affected.

Use context clues, knowledge of prefixes, or a dictionary to select the best definition for McConnell’s use of profoundly.

Which of the following is not an example of situational irony?
maxonik [38]

Answer:

D. A teacher running right into a door and falling on her face

Explanation:

Situational irony is a situation, outcome or an action that happens although that was unexpected from the known facts or premises.

It is completely unexpected for an experienced Olympic diver to make such a beginner's mistake and do the belly flop.

We could say the same for an 80- year old lady to be familiar with modern technologies, let alone use them and be a part of it.

Also, a ridiculously short man winning a high-jump competition is a rather unexpected outcome.

However, a teacher running right into a door and falling is simply a painful accident, because teachers aren't in any way less prone to accidents nor it is expected of them to never accidentally injure themselves.

Ket [755]

Answer:

I had stolen a lot of things and with my sister, she told me it was gonna be okay so i did it and we got caught by a security camera. we did not need the things but we where young and afraid to ask for them. Instead of facing the consequences we ran away for a day and eventually went back home. we learned that no matter what you do, facing the problem head on has a much better chance of you being able to explain yourself and getting a better outcome. running from your problems will lead to the worst possible outcome.
