Many of the early immigrant groups came to America in order to worship freely and they particularly came after the English Civil War due to religious conflicts going around during that period of time in France and Germany. These Immigrants included nonconformists which were Puritans. Puritans were known as Protestant Christians who fled the Religious Persecution which was going against them from Anglican king of England. These groups had common religious backgrounds yet the views of these groups in the context of religious toleration were mixed. Thereof some of themsuch as Roger Williams and William Penn who were from ensured Puritans the protection and along with that the people belonged to religious minority groups were also ensured of protection. During the period when the transformation of New France was taking place was transferred to Great Britain and Catholic Church remained under toleration but despite that, Huguenot was given entrance as they were banned from settlement from French armies.
