At the end of a reaction it is important to remove the solvent from a solid product (more than one answer may be correct):
vova2212 [387]

Answer:

(B.) and (C.)

b. So that clean NMR spectra can be obtained that do not contain solvent peaks.

c. So that the yield can be determined.

Explanation:

The solvent used in Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectrometer is Trimethyl silane (TMS), a neutral solvent which doesn't give off any signals. Other solvents could have interactions with the radiation, and disrupt the spectra.

Furthermore, for accurate determination of the actual yield and overall percentage yield, solid must be separated from the solvent, dried and weighed.

I hope this was explanatory enough.

The average molecular speed in a sample of Ar gas at a certain temperature is 391 m/s. The average molecular speed in a sample o
adoni [48]

Answer:

550 m/s

Explanation:

The average molecular speed (v) is the speed associated with a group of molecules on average. We can calculate it using the following expression.

v = \sqrt{\frac{3 \times R \times T}{M} }

where,

  • R: ideal gas constant
  • T: absolute temperature
  • M: molar mass of the gas

We can use the info of argon to calculate the temperature for both samples.

T = \frac{v^{2} \times M}{3 \times R} = \frac{(391m/s)^{2} \times 39.95g/mol}{3 \times 8.314J/k.mol} = 2.45 \times 10^{5} K

Now, we can use the same expression to find the average molecular speed in a sample of Ne gas.

v = \sqrt{\frac{3 \times R \times T}{M} } = \sqrt{\frac{3 \times (8.314J/k.mol) \times 2.45 \times  10^{5}K }{20.18g/mol} } = 550 m/s

What makes the atomic radius change down a column of the periodic table
Olin [163]

As you go across a period, radius shrinks because you are adding protons. The added positive charge increases pull on the electron shells.

As you go down a group, radius gets larger because you are increasing shells of electrons. This increases shielding of the nucleus' positive charge, so the electrons are not pulled in as much.
