The progressive era began during the 1890s in America. Social and political reform widely observed when people tried to address changes in working conditions, health issues, and decreasing corruption in government. Photography and pictures in the newspapers help people to see the reality of society and the state of people who remain somewhat disconnected. Writings in newspapers could not bring as pictures brought attention towards readers.
