How can I make my narrative story more interesting and a bit suspenseful that would keep the reader reading? The narrative needs

to be creative, imaginative and brings the story to life. The topic is about fear and I'm writing my personal experience of my fear of spiders. So my question is, what are some ways I can make my narrative more creative and a bit suspenseful that would keep reader reading? My story is kind of boring and I would like to make it more creative.

Answer:

Four factors are necessary for suspense—reader empathy, reader concern, impending danger and escalating tension. We create reader empathy by giving the character a desire, wound or internal struggle that readers can identify with. The more they empathize, the closer their connection with the story will be.
