the first number will be m, and if m = 1, then it will not be shown for m is how much x is being multiplied, and the line will slope at a 45 degree angle, however this angle is not a 45 degree angle, at the x coordinate 1, the line is 3 units higher then at the x coordinate 0, so the slope is 3

the y intercept tells you how high up or how low down the line crosses the y axis, since the line crosses at y coordinate 0, then b is = to 0, if we raise the entire line by one unit, then b would be = to 1, accounting for the change in height, same goes for how low, except if its below 0, it will be represented as a negative number
