so many men entered the armed services that professional baseball experienced a shortage of good players. (4) Philip K. Wrigley had an interesting solution to the problem. (5) He started a new league. (6) It was called the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League (AAGPBL). (7) To find good players, he scouted women’s softball clubs. (8) They were very popular at that time. (9) The AAGPBL was a hit. (10) In 1948, the year in which the league reached its high point of popularity, more than a million fans came to watch AAGPBL games. (11) The league produced many fine players, including Mary “Bonnie” Baker. (12) Dorothy Kamenshek was also a fine player. (13) After World War II ended, the AAGPBL declined in popularity. Which is the most effective way to combine sentences 7 and 8? To find good players, he scouted women’s softball clubs, which were very popular at that time. <span>"To find good players, he scouted women’s softball clubs, which were very popular at that time." is the correct answer. The last choice makes it sound like he's only scouting the popular women's softball clubs rather than all of them. The second to last option is not grammatically correct because of the comma between scouted and women's. The second option just replaces the period with  a comma and and, which makes it still seem as if the two pieces of information are separate.</span>

Vesna [10]

Answer:

This essay does not have a stated thesis. What is Diaz's main idea? Write a sentence that could serve as a thesis statement. Where in the essay could this sentence be added? Should such a sentence be added? Why or why not? I believe Diaz's main idea is, be careful who you trust. I believe the thesis statement should be “It's hard to trust someone”. This should be added in the introduction. It is important that this is added because a thesis is the center of an essay. It should also be added because every paragraph in the body would support this statement.
