Answer:

The values are x = 0° or x = 60°

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

\cos x + \frac{1}{\sqrt{3} }\times \sin x = 1

Let it be in the form of

a\cos x + b\sin x = 1 such that

a = 1

b=\frac{1}{\sqrt{3} }

We have

\sqrt{(a^{2}+b^{2} )}=\sqrt{(1^{2}+(\frac{1}{\sqrt{3} }) ^{2} )}\\=\sqrt{\frac{4}{3}}\\=\frac{2}{\sqrt{3} }

Now, Dividing both the side by \frac{2}{\sqrt{3} } we get

\frac{\sqrt{3} }{2}\cos x + \frac{1}{2}\sin x =\frac{\sqrt{3} }{2}\\

We Know

\sin 60 =\frac{\sqrt{3} }{2}\\and\\\cos 60 = \frac{1}{2}

Now by replacing with above values we get

\sin 60\times \cos x + \cos 60\times \sin x = \frac{\sqrt{3} }{2}\\

Also we have formula

\sin A\times \cos B + \cos A\times \sin B = \sin (A+B)

By applying the above Formula we get

\sin (60+x)=\frac{\sqrt{3} }{2}\\

Also ,

\sin (60)=\frac{\sqrt{3} }{2}\\and\\\sin (120)=\frac{\sqrt{3} }{2}

Comparing we get

 60 + x = 60   or  60 + x = 120

∴ x = 0°               ∴ x = 120 - 60 = 60°

Therefore, the values are x = 0° or x = 60° i.e between 0° to 360°

A store is having a sale on jelly beans and trail mix. For 8 pounds of jelly beans and 4 pounds of trail mix, the total cost is
aleksley [76]
Make this on form of a simultaneous equation:

assume jelly beans is J and trail mix is T

8J+4T=21
3J+2T=9
then solve

multiply the first equation by 3 and second equation by 8(SO THE J CAN DISAPPEAR[ELIMINATION METHOD])

24J+12T=63
24J+16T=72

Subtract

-4T=-9
T=0.44

then substitute the T to any one of the equation

3J+2(0.44)=9
3J+0.88=9
3J=8.12
J=2.71

therefore, jelly beans= $2.71 and trail mix=$0.44

14000+7x=35x (x being the number of books) solve for x and you have your answer. 14000=35x-7x=28x therefore x=14000/28=500 so he needs to sell 500 books before he breaks even.
