Trees can't "gather"~move nor can they hear. so it would make that a personification.

An increase of population may increase the unemployment rate as less jobs will become available. The jolt may also cause tension in the housing market as a byproduct of the total percentage of existing residential spaces reaching higher occupancy which may not be remedied by making more room because of my third point. Although tons of food is wasted annually, it's unlikely that the population growth would adjust human's cultivation habits accordingly; in fact, it may cause an even larger harvest of unused crop if the response is not rationing. Overall, these are doomsday level effects, but they are eventual effects nonetheless. Hope this helped!
