The southern parts of America relied on crops from plantations to fuel their economy. Plantations used slaves to harvest and plant the crops which meant the south's economy was mainly slave based unlike the north. northern parts of america had a more factory based economy because of weather, temperatures, and terrain so there economy was not based as much on farms which required slaves to work them.
