Answer:

6.34 × 10²

Step-by-step explanation:

Calculating scientific notation for a positive integer is simple, as it always follows this notation: a x 10b.

Step 1

To find a, take the number and move a decimal place to the right one position.

Original Number: 634

New Number: 6.34

Step 2

Now, to find b, count how many places to the right of the decimal.

New Number: 6 . 3 4

Decimal Count: 1 2

There are 2 places to the right of the decimal place.

Step 3

Building upon what we know above, we can now reconstruct the number into scientific notation.

Remember, the notation is: a x 10b

a = 6.34

b = 2

Now the whole thing:

6.34 x 10²

Step 4

Check your work:

10² = 100 x 6.34 = 634

Given f(x) = 2x- 7. complete parts (a) through (c) below. Homework Help
vodka [1.7K]
  • The value for f(0) is -7
  • The value of x for which f(x) = 0 is 3.5
  • The answer in part a shows that the y-intercept of graph f(x) is at (0, -7) while part (b) shows  that the x-intercept of the graph f(x) is at (3.5, 0)

Given the function f(x) = 2x - 7

a) To compute f(0), we will simply substitute x = 0 into the given expression as shown;

f(0) = 2(0) - 7

f(0) = 0 - 7

f(0) = -7

Hence the value for f(0) is -7

b) For f(x) = 0

Substitute f(x) = 0 in the expression as shown;

0 = 2x - 7

-2x = -7

x = 7/2

x = 3.5

Hence the value of x for which f(x) = 0 is 3.5

c) The answer in part a shows that the y-intercept of graph f(x) is at (0, -7) while part (b) shows  that the x-intercept of the graph f(x) is at (3.5, 0)

The monthly budget for the front of the house is $51,000. You spent 17% of the budget on fresh flowers. How much did you spend o
kozerog [31]
Firstly we need to find out how much is 17% from 51,000:

51 000 * 17% =
= 51 000 * 17/100 =
= 510 * 17 =
= 8 670

So I spent $8 670 on the fresh flowers. Putting it into a proportion:

51 000 : 8 670

We can simplify it:

5 100 : 867              (divided by 2)
1 700 : 289              (divided by 3)
100 : 17                  (divided by 17)

Answer: I spent $8 670 on the fresh flowers, which was 17/100 of the whole budget.

Beth has just received an inheritance of $500,000 and would like to be able to make quarterly withdrawals over the next 20 years
ryzh [129]

The amount Beth would be able to withdraw quarterly from her inheritance over the next 20 years is Quarterly Payments ≈ $11,124.53

The given parameters in the question;

Present value of inheritance, PV = $500,000

The number of years of withdrawal, n = 20 years

Interest rate, i = 6.4%

The required parameter;

The amount Beth would be able to withdraw quarterly over the next 20 years to draw the account down to zero, given a quarterly interest rate of 6.4%

Method

The required parameter is given by the payment formula

The question is related with annuity given that withdrawals will be made quarterly

The question seeks to find how much she can withdraw so as to exhaust the balance in 20 years

The amount she can withdraw quarterly is given by the payment formula as follows;

\mathbf{PMT = PV \times \dfrac{i}{1 - \left(1 + i\right)^{-n}}}

Where;

PMT = The amount of quarterly payments

PV = The present value of the investment = $500,000

i = The interest rate = 6.4%

n = The number of years = 20 years

Therefore, we get;

\mathbf{PMT = 500,000 \times \dfrac{\dfrac{0.064}{4} }{1 - \left(1 + \dfrac{0.064}{4} \right)^{-4 \times 20}} \approx 11,124.53}

The amount she can withdraw quarterly for the next 20 years ≈ $11,124.53

Quarterly payment, PMT = $11,124.53

Can someone explain the difference between the perimeter and the circumference?
Eva8 [605]

Answer:Perimeter is the limit of any given geometric figure. Circumference is just the name given to a circle’s perimeter, in other words, the circle’s limit, its edge.

The reason for this is because the perimeter is, by definition, the sum of the lenghth of every side of any given geometric figure. A circle has either no sides, or number of sides, so its perimeter has to be treated differently.

Remember that π (Pi) equals 3.141592 approximately. This is a constant, meaning that no matter what circle you are studying, Pi will always have the same value. It is the relation between the diameter and the lenght of its circumference. A circle with diameter xwill travel 3.141592x before it completes a revolution. This is where Pi comes from.

So the difference would be that a “normal” perimeter is only the sum of the sides. A circumference is the perimeter of a circle, given a diameter and the constant value of Pi, that derives from other properties of the circle, and not by its sides (remember a circle has either none or nnumber of sides).
