Given a conditional statement p
sergeinik [125]

Answer:

The truth values of p q is equivalent to (p q) (q p).

Step-by-step explanation:

n conditional statements, "If p then q" is denoted symbolically by "p q"; p is called the hypothesis and q is called the conclusion. For instance, consider the two following statements:

If Sally passes the exam, then she will get the job.

If 144 is divisible by 12, 144 is divisible by 3.

Let p stand for the statements "Sally passes the exam" and "144 is divisible by 12".

Let q stand for the statements "Sally will get the job" and "144 is divisible by 3".

The hypothesis in the first statement is "144 is divisible by 12", and the conclusion is "144 is divisible by 3".

The second statement states that Sally will get the job if a certain condition (passing the exam) is met; it says nothing about what will happen if the condition is not met. If the condition is not met, the truth of the conclusion cannot be determined; the conditional statement is therefore considered to be vacuously true, or true by default.

Need help writing a quadratic equation from a function given the graph, screenshot posted of the question
lutik1710 [3]

g(x) = -x² + 10x - 30

the equation of a quadratic in vertex form is

y = a(x - h)² + k

where (h, k ) are the coordinates of the vertex and a is a multiplier

here vertex = (5, - 5 ), hence

y = a(x - 5)² - 5

to find a substitute the point on the graph (8, - 14) into the equation

- 14 = 9a - 5 ⇒ 9a = - 9 ⇒ a = - 1

y = - (x - 5)² - 5 = - (x² - 10x + 25) - 5 = - x² + 10x - 30

g(x) = - x² + 10x - 30 ← in standard form

Assume that men's weights are normally distributed with a mean of 172 lb and standard deviation of 29 lb (national health survey
dezoksy [38]
The probability is 0.0606.

We find the z-score associated with this sample using the formula:

z=\frac{X-\mu}{\frac{\sigma}{\sqrt{n}}}

Using our information, we have:
z=\frac{167-172}{\frac{29}{\sqrt{81}}}=-1.55

Using a z-table (http://www.z-table.com) we see that the area to the left of, less than, this score is 0.0606.
