Andros has an oil fired heating system. In 30 days period he used a full tank of oil at a constant rate per day . At a different

time of the year the amount of oil andros uses per day is 1/3 of the rate used in 30 days period . How many days should a full tank of oil last at this new rate

Answer:

90 days

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the rate per day for the 30 days period be x

Given that the rate drops to 1/3 of the rate used in 30 days period, it means that the new rate

= 1/3 x

If at a rate of x, the full tank runs for 30 days

at a rate of 1/3 x, the full tank would run for

= x/ (1/3 x) * 30 days

= 3 * 30 days

= 90 days

At the new rate, the full tank of oil will last for 90 days

What is the approximate age of a woman whose normal systolic pressure measures 125 mm Hg?
sashaice [31]

The approximate age of a woman whose normal systolic pressure measures 125 mm Hg is 31

The function is given as:

P(A) = 0.006A^2 - 0.02A + 120

When the normal systolic pressure is 125, it means that:

P(A) = 125

So, we have:

125 = 0.006A^2 - 0.02A + 120

Subtract 125 from both sides of the equation

0= 0.006A^2 - 0.02A + 120 -125

0= 0.006A^2 - 0.02A - 5

Rewrite the equation as:

0.006A^2 - 0.02A - 5 = 0

Using a graphing calculator, we have:

A = \{30.58, -27.25\}

But age cannot be negative.

So, we have:

A = 30.58

Approximate

A =31

Hence, the age of the woman is 31

Please help!! What Find the Error and explain why it is wrong!
Nata [24]

Answer:

First image attached

The error was done in Step E, because student did not multiply 2\cdot x -8 by the negative sign in numerator. Step E must be \frac{2\cdot x -5}{(x+4)\cdot (x-4)}.

Second image attached

The error was done in Step C, because the student omitted the 2\cdot a \cdot b of the algebraic identity (a+b)^{2} = a^{2}+2\cdot a\cdot b +b^{2}. Step C must be 5\cdot x = x^{2}+4\cdot x + 4

Step-by-step explanation:

First image attached

The error was done in Step E, because student did not multiply 2\cdot x -8 by the negative sign in numerator. The real numerator in Step E should be:

3-(2\cdot x -8)= 3-2\cdot x+8 = 11-2\cdot x

Hence, Step E must be \frac{2\cdot x -5}{(x+4)\cdot (x-4)}.

And further steps are described below:

Step D

x^{2}-x+4 = 0

Which according to the Quadratic Formula, represents a polynomial with complex roots. That is: (a = 1, b = -1, c = 4)

D = b^{2}-4\cdot a\cdot c

D = (-1)-4\cdot (1)\cdot (4)

D = -17 (Conjugated complex roots)

Step E

(x-0.5-i\,1.936)\cdot (x-0.5+i\,1.936) = 0

Step F

x = 0.5+i\,1.936\,\lor\,x = 0.5-i\,1.936

Can someone help me?
Pani-rosa [81]

Answer: m=−3

Step-by-step explanation: −40−2(3m+1/2)=7m−2

−40+(−2)(3m)+(−2)(1/2)=7m+−2

−40+−6m+−1=7m+−2

(−6m)+(−40+−1)=7m−2

−6m+−41=7m−2

−6m−41−7m=7m−2−7m

−13m−41+41=−2+41

−13m/−13=39/−13

m=−3

What mistake I guess Keith did make is he subtracted 2 from -39 which equaled to -37 which caused him divide -37 by 13 when it should have been 39 divided by 13 because he should have left 39 alone and not have subtracted 2 from it also it should not have been negative basically what I'm trying to say is that he did his division and subtraction wrong.
